I dreamt.
My partner and I were home. It was mid-day but the sky was dark like twilight. The end of the world was beginning. We were closing up all the windows and making it look like the house was abandoned. Our cats kept jumping onto the window sills so we boarded up the front windows but kept the back ones open.
I looked over at the neighbors across the street, they had about ten cars parked in their driveway and more were coming in. The other neighbors around us had cars parked in their driveways also.
“That’s a smart idea.” My partner said, “Safety in numbers and they’re all supporting each other.”
“That’s true.” I said, “But what if their food runs out? They might start fighting with each other. That’s a lot of people and we don't know how long the end will last.”
“That's a good point.” My partner said, “but we should at least have a couple of people with us.”
“Sure, let's do that. We’ll have a couple of people, people we can trust.” I said.
I awoke.
